Isley’s cousin and former keyboardest for the group Chris Jasper said that Isley’s death was due to diabetes. Isley has had 20 year battle with the disease that took away his legs in 1997.
Isley was a member of the Isley Brothers during their greatest string of hits including “Fight the Power Part 1,” “Harvest for the World,” and “Livin’ in the Life.”
In 1984, Isley, Isley’s brother Ernie Isley, and Jasper started their own group called Isley, Jasper, Isley. That group went on to record “Caravan of Love” that went to number one on the R&B charts.
